Meet Nathaniel Diong - Future Amp Youth Advisory Board Member, AMP Tomorrow Maker 2020 + award-winning Gen Z educator.
We put out the call to Australia’s youth to join us to rethink, revolutionise + democratise career education. Here’s the good news. Our future is in VERY good hands.
Meet Nathaniel Diong, the newest member to take a seat on our national Future Amp Youth Advisory Board, and a phenomenal, award-winning educator and change-maker.
Nathaniel was still in school when he launched Future Minds Network – Australia’s first start-up accelerator for young people, and he has just been announced this week as one of AMP Foundation’s Tomorrow Makers 2020!
Future Minds Network (FMN) is a social enterprise that supports young people to be job-ready by teaching them fundamental entrepreneurial skills, and to step out as the next gen of social entrepreneurs.
Nathaniel’s work with FMN sees him partnering with schools to provide education support packages that help students grow their employability skills and build their personal business brands, and he also runs student hackathons - Future Hacks - so students can get hands-on solving real world problems and building the fundamentals of entrepreneurship.
FMN is on a quest to tackle youth unemployment through entrepreneurship. Through hyper-engaging programs, students learn from mentors at YCombinator (birthplace of Airbnb), Harvard, and Oxford and work in teams to build purpose-led startups with an impact. They also get to practise and master key enterprise skills for the Future of Work like communication and problem-solving, and even stimulate the creation of their own jobs for the future!
Nathaniel’s next step is to launch new online accelerator programs to reach more young Australians outside our cities.
From TEDx to Techstars!
At 19, Nathaniel had already worked with over 11,000 young people, and was an Entrepreneur in Residence, mentor and judge at programs like UC Berkeley, and two hackathons with the United Nations. He has also mentored early-stage startups across three continents, and sits on 8 non-for-profit boards. Nathaniel has also sat alongside giants like the founder of Techstars - one of the top 3 startup accelerators in the world - and works across disability, education and healthcare.
An MC, moderator and guest lecturer, Nathaniel continues to get out there and inspire people of all ages - he has spoken at TEDx, National Youth Commission of Australia, #StartingGood (Global), UNITE 2030 (Canada), Crimson Education, and many more!
