About the event

Join the Future Minds Accelerator Roadshow to see the 2020 cohort edtech scale-ups in action and hear from a panel of industry and thought leaders about what the schools of the future are going to look like!

The event is hosted by Venture Cafe Sydney so during the first hour, you will get to move from table to table and meet the founders, watch live demos of their educational technology solutions and network with other guests.

Eddie Woo
Maths teacher, Leader for Mathematics Growth, Education Ambassador

Eddie Woo teaches mathematics at Cherrybrook Technology High School and is the Leader of Mathematics Growth for the NSW Department of Education. Since 2012, he's uploaded his everyday classroom lessons to his Youtube channel, Wootube, which has more than 800,000 subscribers and 50 million views. In 2018, he was named Australia’s Local Hero in the Australian of the Year Awards and listed as one of the Top 10 teachers in the world by the Global Teacher Prize. He is the Education Ambassador for Sydney University, host of the ABC’s children’s series Teenage Boss and the author of Woo’s Wonderful World of Maths.

Summer Howarth

Summer Howarth has worked in every corner of education in Australia across schools, systems and policy. She is an accomplished learning designer, facilitator and strategist with a deep passion for and proven success in supporting innovation & change journeys of teams and organisations to ensure profound learning experiences for both adults and children alike. Summer has been named three times on the Educator Hotlist, a finalist for Young Entrepreneur of the Year, holds a Paul Harris Fellowship for services to education and is an advisor to the HundrED foundation on global innovation in education.


Dr Stephen Harris
Co-Founder and Director of Learning -
Learnlife, Barcelona

Stephen is the Co-Founder and Director of Learning at Learnlife, Barcelona. He currently lives across two cities - Barcelona and Sydney, crossing the globe frequently! Learnlife Barcelona is a lighthouse hub - the pioneer space for lifelong learning in downtown Barcelona. A state-of-the-art learning community, it is the first in a worldwide network of learning hubs meant to accelerate change in existing education models through personal purpose-based based learning. Stephen was the Principal of Northern Beaches Christian School (NBCS) from 1999 - 2017. Under his leadership the school gained international recognition as an organisation that was noted for leading pedagogic change in schooling. In 2005, Stephen founded the Sydney Centre for Innovation in Learning. His vision was to embed innovation into everyday school practice. Stephen received recognition at the inaugural 2011 Australian Awards for Outstanding Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL), as the Australian Secondary Principal of the Year (NSW). Stephen was also recognised in 2017 as a recipient of the prestigious John Laing Award by Principals Australia Institute (PAI) presented to exceptional school leaders.


Shane Hill

A high school teacher in Australia, Canada and UK before he started Mathletics in his garage, Shane Hill has been an edtech pioneer and leader in Australia for almost two decades. Founder and creator of Mathletics, Spellodrome, World Math Day, Skoolbo, da Vinci Decathlon and now Storyathon & Writing Legends, collectively, these learning communities have been used by tens of millions of students.
