Career Mentor:
Ingrid Langtry

Ingrid's full time day job is an Assemble Communities where they look after the development of 'ground planes' and create neighbourhoods that focus on sustainability and social connection - basically designing places that people feel good in. But she also co-own two restaurants, Ladro and Ladro TAP - sustainable Italian restaurants with pretty ace pizza!

Her career story is a bit of a zig zag through design, built environment, hospitality and sustainability. Ingrid started out studying Industrial Design and now create communities that are sustainable, and a lot of the time have cafes, bars & restaurants. Her current role brings in everything she’s done in the past into one very unique role.

”My very first job was in a hair salon when I was 14. I made coffee, washed and swept hair and took bookings. They taught me to cut hair even though I had no intention of being a hairdresser. So when I took a gap year between year 12 & uni, I made a tidy sum cutting other backpackers hair in hostels, which kept me well fed most of my travels. And I cut my children's hair now...turned out to be a handy skill! And I'm addicted to chilli."
