Environmental Sciences and Renewable Energy
Work with natural energy sources like solar, wind and water power.
These industries are critical to our everyday lives. The Environmental Sciences industry includes jobs which address environmental factors that contribute to the demise or threatening of species, including global warming, ozone depletion, forest conservation, soil erosion, and changes in the Earth's atmosphere.
The Renewable Energy industry covers the generation, transmission and distribution of energy from sustainable sources (like wind, solar and water power).
Jobs in these industries are located at power plants, research facilities, and in locations where particular energy sources are being researched, generated or distributed.
Employability skills required include critical thinking, problem solving, information literacy, teamwork and intercultural skills.
Jobs are widely available across Australia, in cities, regional areas and remote communities.
Most jobs do require university qualifications, but some roles may not need a degree. Many jobs are full-time, but remote work and contract work is also common.
