These industries are rapidly changing and growing fast in the digital and 'Knowledge Age', and offer a wide range of exciting career pathway and job opportunities!

The media industry is responsible for print publications (ie: newspapers and books), plus online publishing platforms, social media, film production, digital distribution, sound and music recording, and the management and storage of physical and digital media assets and information.

The telecommunications industry is responsible for the design, construction, installation and servicing of telecommunications equipment, systems and facilities.

Jobs are usually in TV, radio broadcasting, streaming platforms, news companies, libraries, film studios, graphic design, advertising and telecommunication companies, and publishing businesses.

Employability skills required include information literacy, digital literacy, critical thinking and communication.

Jobs are mainly located in capital cities (including Sydney and Melbourne), but there are many regional centres, and increasing global opportunities to work remotely from anywhere.

Post-school qualifications are often required, with half of workers holding a university degree, and a third holding a VET qualification.
