Future Amp partners with Melbourne Indigenous Transition School to build bright futures for Aboriginal students.
As a Pledge 1% company, Future Amp is excited to announce a partnership with Melbourne Indigenous Transition School, to engage, support and empower young Indigenous students to build in-demand industry skills and help them discover and plan future career pathways.
MITS exists to create pathways to greater opportunity for Indigenous students from remote and regional communities, so that they may lead lives full of choice and opportunity.
This partnership is a commitment to supporting MITS students across Victoria with personal and career development opportunities on the Future Amp all-in-one careers and skills smart learning platform.
Future Amp Co-Founder Madeleine Grummet says this is an important partnership to level the playing field, break down access barriers to opportunities and enable more young people to build in-demand skills and industry-based learning before they enter the workforce.
“You can’t be what you can’t see, and you don’t know what you don’t know.
Too many young people in Australia still face significant demographic or geographic barriers, lack access to industry role models or career advisors, and can’t get beyond the classroom walls or their born circumstance to reach their full potential.
“By leveraging technology and best practice digital learning design, our platform provides scalable on-demand access to workforce insights, and empowers every young person to build their future career pathway and employability profile, anywhere, anytime.”
“By partnering with incredible education providers like MITS, together we can bridge the gap between education and employment by connecting young people with the real world of work and unlocking their potential to build job ready skills and play a future role in the digital economy,” she said.
Building education to employment pathways for young Aboriginal people
Annie Carruthers, Pathways Manager for MITS, said the school was honoured to be partnering with Future Amp, to support the education to employment pathways for young Aboriginal people, from the Northern Territory and Regional Victoria.
“Future Amp provides an incredible one-stop digital space for our students to learn about the world of post school options, in a gentle, yarning kind of way – until now, a daunting task, not only for our students but for us!
Amazingly, Future Amp synthesises a plethora of information into one place, to create a self-paced and supported journey into the world of careers. The simple introductory questionnaire, then expands into a multitude of layers – from articulating strengths, hopes and dreams to Job Ready learning units (such as Financial Literacy, Overcoming Procrastination and Resume Building, to name just a few), to interactive and exploratory career investigations, to connecting young people with role models and unlocking their potential.
Thanks to Future Amp we now have a clear and consistent way to yarn about the future with our young people, from year 7 onwards!” she said.
The partnership will also support Future Amp’s Australia-wide commitment to impact partnerships to help bridge the opportunity and skills gap for students in remote, rural, regional, indigenous and marginalised communities.
If you are an Australian education institution, nonprofit or community organisation providing careers, self-development, education pathway or mentorship to young people (13-25), please reach out to our team to see how we can help you to supercharge the futures of the young people you support.
