Construction, Building and Trades
Build the structures we live, learn, work and play in!
This industry is one of Australia’s largest employment industries. Industry activities include the planning, building and demolition of homes, commercial buildings, hospitals, office blocks and other physical structures.
Employability skills required include problem solving, teamwork and communication.
Many jobs are located on building sites and the work can be physically demanding, so this industry suits people who want to work outdoors or with their hands. Other managerial jobs can include finance, staff booking and site planning services.
VET qualifications (via apprenticeships and traineeships) are the most common way to enter the industry, however managerial level jobs can require qualifications. Most workers are full time, and one-third are self-employed in trades.
