Kicking career goals: Future Amp announces North Melbourne Football Club The Huddle Partnership.

This year has certainly been a tough one. The global pandemic, huge challenges to teaching and learning delivery and recent wide-scale workforce disruption have challenged us all to rethink and recalibrate in this new normal, but it’s also been tough for those young people who were already facing big hurdles and barriers in their day to day.

Last year, as part of the David Gonski AO Future Minds Program, Future Amp committed to an ambitious goal of helping 1 million students across Australia access the career education, industry mentorship and job-ready skills they need to successfully navigate the transition from education to employment. Strengthening social inclusion by inspiring brighter futures for every young person is part of that mission.

Today, as a newly accepted global Pledge 1% company, Future Amp is excited to announce a Victorian state partnership with The Huddle at North Melbourne Football Club, to engage, support and empower students from disadvantaged backgrounds to build on their strengths, in-demand industry skills and increase their ability to participate in society by helping them plan future career pathways that will set them up for success.

About The Huddle

Born out of the role and value of sport and the influence the North Melbourne Football Club plays in connecting people across different ages, genders and cultures, The Huddle was established in 2010 as the community arm of the Club in partnership with the Scanlon Foundation and the Australian Multicultural Foundation. Through the design of its innovative programs, The Huddle leverages the power of sport to strengthen social inclusion, education and careers for young people.

This education for impact partnership is a commitment to supporting The Huddle’s students across Victoria with personal and career development opportunities on the Future Amp all-in-one careers and skills smart learning platform in 2022.

Future Amp Co-founder Madeleine Grummet says this is an important partnership to level the playing field, break down access barriers to opportunities and enable more young people to build in-demand skills and industry-based learning before they enter the workforce.

“You can’t be what you can’t see, and you don’t know what you don’t know.

Too many young people in Australia still face significant demographic or geographic barriers, lack access to industry role models or career advisors, and can’t get beyond the classroom walls or their born circumstance to reach their full potential.

“By leveraging technology, our platform provides scalable on-demand access to global workforce insights, real-time data, and empowers every young person to build their future career pathway and employability profile, anywhere, anytime.”

“By partnering with incredible education providers like The Huddle, together we can bridge the gap between education and employment by connecting young people with role models and unlocking their potential to build job ready skills and play a future role in the digital economy,” she says.

The partnership will also support Future Amp’s national rollout, as well as the company’s commitment to impact partnerships to help bridge the opportunity gap for students in remote, rural, regional, indigenous and marginalised communities.

“This impact partnership complements our partnerships with leading industries and education providers across Australia, and is one of many to be announced in the coming weeks as we scale nationally,” added Madeleine.

“Equipping every student to be a creative, connected and engaged learner in a rapidly changing world is the responsibility of us all, and requires innovative, scalable solutions that enable equity of access - anywhere, anytime.”
